The collection consists of research into U.S. Supreme Court nominations of the 19th and 20th centuries, and includes 8 inches of printed materials and 7 microfilm reels (35mm), 1823-1939 (bulk 1860-1939), collected by Frank, for a research project concerning Supreme Court nominations. The original materials were transcribed, summarized or microfilmed from the following records in the National Archives: Department of Justice-Appointments Clerk; U.S. Supreme Court Justices files; Department of Justice-Supreme Court Personnel Papers; and the United States Senate-Judiciary Committee; Nomination and Confirmation of Supreme Court Justices files. Files include nominated and rejected individuals as well as nominated and confirmed individuals.
